Reopening of ECC - Fellowship

Reopening of ECC - What to Expect
Beginning May 28 and continuing through June 6, we’ve been posting more detailed information about some of the expected changes and procedures regarding the reopening of the ECC campus.  The full “Top Ten” list is available on our website and app, and it will also be listed in The Echoes which you should receive later this week, but for now, we’ll post something each day to help introduce some of those new changes.

5. Fellowship
One of the most cherished and anticipated moments each week at our worship gatherings is our Friendship time. Our church family just loves to greet each other handshakes, hugs and warm greetings all in the name of Christ and with the purpose of encouraging each other in love!

Unfortunately, during this first phase of reopening for our campus and the return to LIVE worship services together, we will not be able to engage in any of those warm fellowship activities that involve any contact with each other. This includes, but is not limited to, handshakes, hugs, high fives, fist bumps, elbow bumps and more!

In order to help with this, we are asking a few things from our congregation.

A. Please don’t arrive any more than 10 minutes prior to the beginning of our scheduled             worship services. That would mean no arrivals prior to 8:50 for the first service at 9:00 and no arrivals until 10:35 for the 10:45 service.  This will help control and curb some of those urges   we all have to so warmly welcome and greet each other.

B. Please make every effort to leave the building as soon as possible following the worship             service.  As you all know, our lobby is not very conducive to practicing safe social distancing,      so we are encouraging everyone to please move quickly out of the building and into the           exterior hallways, courtyard and/or parking lots if you choose to fellowship with some of your     ECC family and friends. To turn a phrase, “You can fellowship all day long, but you just can’t         do it here!”

This likely means we will have a more structured dismissal time from our worship center during the first few weeks to help maintain safe distances. Please show your support and encouragement by following all the suggested guidelines we will have in place while inside the buildings.

I know this will be extremely difficult for many of you, as you love to give these warm greetings just as much as you love to receive them!  We really are a loving church! Know that we are all doing our part to create a safe and clean worship environment in a way for us to honor God during this time.  In time, these guidelines will change, and we will keep you informed as to what the next steps will be at the appropriate time. Thanks for your understanding, encouragement and support!

If you have any other questions, please send them to and we will get back to you within the next business day.
