ECC - Phase 2 Reopening Guidelines

REVISED 7-10-2020

In a world that seemingly changes day by day, we have implemented some changes to our initial Phase Two reopening plan.  Please read through these carefully and note the specific changes that may apply to you and your family.

1. Children’s Programming to resume beginning Sunday, July 5 – This will cover programming for children from 2 years through 5th grade.  Here are some stipulations and guidelines regarding kids’ programming:
a) Based on new guidelines implemented by local authorities and supported by DCF, all             children under 6 years DO NOT need to wear a mask, while all children 6 years and older Dneed to wear a mask. We will do our best to implement these guidelines. Children in our preschool room will NOT be expected to wear a mask, while all those (even if not yet 6) in our   Elementary room will be expected to wear a mask.
b) Programming will be offered ONLY during the 10:30am worship service. Doors will open and check ins will begin at 10:15am. Please do not plan to arrive any earlier than this.
c) For those with children younger than 2 years of age, we will have a self-monitoring             room (102) - not volunteer staffed - near the worship center for you to make use of if necessary. Changing table will be available, but please be prepared to use your own supplies including diapers, wipers and changing pad. Only one adult per family (no other siblings or parents) will   be allowed in the room during that hour. There may be other parents and children in the room at this same time.
d) Check-In/Pick Up procedures have been modified for our children’s programming. We will check temperatures prior to allowing children to check in. Please only send one parent to drop off or pick up your child. This will help with traffic and social distancing.
e) Space limitations will be implemented in order to make appropriate efforts to practice social distancing. Our elementary room will max out at 25 total people (children and adults) in the room, and the preschool room will max out at 12 total people (children and adults). If the room reaches full capacity, the room will be closed off and no further children will be admitted.
f) ECC volunteers will NOT be changing diapers during this transitional time. Space will be       made available for parents to do so prior to dropping of children. If a change of diaper is         deemed necessary, then parents will be contacted via text during the worship service for them to take care of any necessary diaper changes. Please be prepared to use your own supplies  including diapers, wipers and changing pad.
g) Watch for more specific details regarding check in, social distancing, programming, pick up, sanitation and more regarding our e-city Kids’ Ministry programming. Serena Maerkl, our e-city Kids’ Ministry director, is sending a direct email out to all our ECC parents and families later this week with all the up to date changes and practices. If you have any questions, please contact the ECC office by noon on Thursday (office closed on Friday).
2. No Sunday School – There will still not be any Sunday School class meetings during the month of July. Until we are able to return to one worship service, we are not able to offer the two hours of Sunday morning programming at this time.
3. Wednesday Programming (REVISED) – Previously, it had been decided to resume our Wednesday PM programming in an abridged format on Wednesday, July 15. Due to some recent changes related to the general public health, our leadership team has decided to postpone that decision until the month of August. This does not impact our Sunday morning worship gatherings at all, and we will continue to meet on Sundays in our current format with our current guidelines.
4. Increased Building Usage – We are increasing the usage of our building both in frequency and in size limits.  Contact the church office for more details, but most groups (excluding SS classes) should be able to resume their regular meetings at this time. We are also encouraging some groups (CWF Circles, Youth Group, LIFE groups) to explore off campus meeting locations at this time, but also know that the building will be open for their meetings if space and time is available. As conveyed by our local leaders, ALL participants will need to wear a mask while on the ECC campus and adhere to the local guidelines regarding social distancing.
5. Worship Time Adjustment – All of you are doing such a great job in exiting the building after the first worship service (9:00am) that we feel it is a safe and reasonable step to move our second worship service to 10:30am.
6. Mandatory Masks – Based on the guidelines from our local authorities (Every person over the age of six (6) who is in a public space shall wear a face mask or covering when not able to engage in social distancing. https://www.coj.net/welcome/news/city-of-jacksonville-adopts-mandatory-mask-require), we will make every effort to adhere to them and follow social distancing guidelines. As a reminder, ALL who attend worship on Sunday will need to have a mask on when they enter the building. Once you are able to maintain proper social distancing, you may remove it, if you feel comfortable doing so. For example, you arrive at church, put your mask on prior to entering the building, find your seat in the Worship Center, then once service begins and you are able to consistently maintain proper social distancing, you can remove your mask. Then once service ends, you will resume wearing a mask until you leave the building. As citizens of earth, we are obligated to obey the authorities God has put in place (Romans 13:1) and yet at the same time as citizens of heaven (Philippians 1:20) we have the responsibility to love one another at all times. Let us exercise this as we gather together for worship and think not of our own interests, but the interest of others in all circumstances.
7. Printed Materials – During July, we will begin offering a limited number of printed bulletins. They will be available at the Hospitality Booth in the lobby, and you can pick them up on your own.  We do encourage everyone to continue using all our digital platforms for those items, if possible.
8. Previous Guidelines still in place – All of the previously practiced guidelines regarding social distancing, seating, communion, offering and fellowship will continue as they were during the month of June (go here if you need a refresher).
Thanks so much for your patience and understanding through all of this.  Please continue to pray for us as we take each day one at a time trusting in God’s guidance and wisdom through all of this.
Remember, if at any point you feel uncomfortable or unsafe by worshipping in person with us on campus, we will continue to offer a LIVE online worship experience each week at 10:30 through the ECC Facebook page. We hope to see you – whether it be in person or virtually – this Sunday!
