Authentic – Developing the Disciplines of a Sincere Faith - Church-Wide Bible Study
October 8-November 19

For seven upcoming Sundays, October 8–November 19, many in our Englewood Christian Church family will have the opportunity to join together for a Sunday School and morning worship focus called Authentic – Developing the Disciplines of a Sincere Faith.

This Bible study will be for those in the high school Sunday School class and all of the adult classes. There will be a portion of each week’s class time that will be video driven and feature the preaching and teaching of James MacDonald. For the remaining class time each week there will be discussion of the specific topic of the week. Then, the morning worship service sermons will correspond to the Bible study topic.

Here are the seven Bible topics that will be addressed in the Authentic study. Week #1 will present the problem of hypocrisy. Then, weeks #2 - #7 will offer Biblical insights into the spiritual disciplines that will enable us to be authentic instead of hypocritical in the living out of our Christian faith. The spiritual disciplines that will be studied will be personal Bible study, personal prayer, fasting, fellowship, service, and worship.

Books for Authentic may be ordered in the foyer on September 24 and October 1. The cost of the book will be $16.00. We hope that you will participate in this special study. And, bring someone with you as you come each week.

59th Homecoming—October 1

Special Guests—Russell and Amber Grove

Each year, we take a Sunday to celebrate the rich history of Englewood’s existence since it began in September of 1958. This year, our Homecoming Sunday will be on October 1! Our special guests will be Russell and Amber Grove from Caldwell, Idaho.

Russell and Amber Grove are both Professors of Christian Education at Boise Bible College and have over 30 years of experience in Children’s and Youth Ministry. “Our passion is for kids to love God and realize how much God loves them so that they can know how important they are to Him, His Church, and His Mission.” God has used them to work with churches in Idaho, Oregon, Ohio, Indiana, Florida, and Guyana, South America. They have also spent years teaching and leading camps in Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Colorado, and Florida. “Investing in our children is one of the most important tasks of God’s people, and it is the most important ministry we have been called to do in our lives.”

Amber and Russell have three adult children (Kristin, Ryan, and KayLee) who are all graduates of Boise Bible College and have committed their lives to serving God in the ministry of the church. The Groves enjoy spending as much time as they can with their kids’ families and spoiling their six grandkids, Judah, Aiden, Joshua, Rhen, CiCi, and Liam.

The day’s activities will begin with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. There will not be a first worship service that day. After Sunday School, we will worship together as a family at 10:45 a.m. Following the service, we will enjoy eating together at a carry-in dinner. Please bring food to share! The day will close with a 1:00 p.m. Praise and Worship Service. The Groves will be presenting skits, our children’s choirs will be singing, and we will thank God for all He has done at Englewood through the years.

Please mark your calendar, invite those who have ties to Englewood to come for the day, note the special schedule, and pray that God will bless this day of celebration!
